”It was always right person wrong time. From when we first met our freshman year of college, right up to our first date. All my friends at school knew I’d liked her, but just wasn’t really an option with Ciara being off the market. After four years of patiently waiting, our senior year I finally (respectfully) told her that when it didn’t work out with her current situation that I’d love nothing more than to take her out
Following graduation, we continued to exchange messages here and there over the next five years, but timing just never clicked. Missed her by a day. One day….I mean she’d reached out sharing she was coming up to Chicago with friends in 2020, but come to find I was set to move to Charleston that same weekend. Minor setback for a major comeback as we stayed the course on the occasional text through the next couple years
Timing finally made sense and we haven’t looked back. After talking daily for a couple weeks, I finally got that first date on the books. Funny enough the earliest we could get together I already had plans booked for Alaska…so naturally I cancelled the leg from Charleston to ATL, drove up to Atlanta, crashed on my buddies couch, only so I could go see about a girl the night before we flew out. Ciara and I caught up until the waiter’s mops hit the floor and we’d realized it’d been hours
The rest is history. Long distance was easy for a year and change, Ciara moved down to Charleston, adopted a cat who thinks he’s a dog, got engaged, bought a house, and get married in May.
Took 10 years, but we got there.”
“It was my very first lecture in college and coming from such a small private high school, I was practically jumping out of my seat with excitement. I was just sitting there minding my own business, trying to soak it all in, when in walked Scott Kelly… I’m not kidding, my jaw dropped. It was love at first sight.
Over the course of college we’d bump into each other around campus, ended up becoming friends and started getting to know each other a little better. After graduation we went our separate ways, but in the back of my head I was always thinking about Scott Kelly.
Flash forward to August of 2022 and we finally got the chance to go on our first date! (Shout to Ceviche in Roswell, GA!) We reconnected and the rest was history. Talk about a long time coming!! I moved to CHS not too long after that and we’ve been living our best coastal dreams since. We got engaged back in March of 2025 in Ireland. Scott pulled off the surprise of a lifetime when both our families flew in to celebrate with us. It was the most magical of trips. These past few years have been incredible. We got a kitty named Teal (who is the craziest and most amazing addition to our family), got engaged and bought a house!! We’re so excited for this next chapter and we can’t wait to celebrate our love in front of all of our favorite people!!
